Manitoba Motocross Opener: Melita's Sandy Oaks Raceway

While some racers shy away from the deep whooped out sand of Melitas Sandy Oaks Raceway, 400+ moto junkies made the trek to Melita this year to get their first fix of the 2007 Manitoba Motocross Season. |
|
|
|
|
|
Vet class eligible, Earl Reimer showed up at Sandy Oaks with a new Headingley Sport Shop KX250F. Reimers focus on this day was the 125 Pro class where he put down a dominant 1-1 day to take the overall. Morden Motorsports Josh Penners 4-2 finishes helped him grab second overall ahead of the impressive ride of the Brandon RV & Leisure Suzuki of Brady Breemersch, who was running his first ever Pro event. |

After suffering the theft of her RM125 several weeks ago, Bev Bryce-Leger had reason to smile after piloting her new RM-Z250 to the top of the box in the Ladies Class. Dominique Morin posted a 3-3 day to grab second ahead of Carmen Regier. |

Jeremy Breemersch (49) triple classed at Melita taking the overalls in 125 Junior and 85cc 12-16, while finishing second in the Supermini class behind Garrett Graboweski. |

In one of the most closely contested classes of the day, Paul Masse took top honours in the Vet Junior class with 3-2 moto scores. The 2-3 day of Ian Blair and 1-6 finishes of Greg Wiebe rounded out the podium. |

Tyler Groening took his first ever overall in style going 1-1 in the 50cc 4-6 class. |
|
|
|

|
A victory in the second moto allowed Jamie Wilson to grab the overall in the 250 Intermediate class. Wilsons 3-1 day bettered the 1-3 outing of Luke McFadden and the 2-5 finishes of Devon Ward. |

Ty Shemko grabbed the 65cc class overall ahead of the hard charging pair of Hayden McKinny and Jordan Devloo. Shemko also nabbed a top 5 in 85cc 7-11 racing in his first appearance in the class. |

FXR MXs Matt Hamm dominated the 25+ class. Hamm was joined on the box by Chris Elliot and Scott Unrau. |

Dyllan Lischynski (77) leads Pearce McKellar in a GP Junior battle that likely featured the fastest corner speeds in any Junior class on the day. Lischynski took the overall with 3-2 finishes while Mckellar and Lindsay Masse traded moto wins. |

After missing much of 2006 due to injury, Troy Revet (63) returned to the 125 Intermediate class with a bang. Revet threw down a pair of moto wins to take the top spot ahead of the 2-2 day of Kyle Cyr. |

Lane Louttit put home track advantage to good use, taking the overall in the 85cc 7-11 class. Louttit was joined on the podium by Rio Stoesz and Derek Donald. |

Westside Hondas Eddie Anderson was top dog in the Youth class with 1-1 finishes. |
|
|
|
|
|
2006 WCAN 50cc champ Cole Dekoninck picked up right where he left off last season with another 1-1 day. Dekoninck was joined on the podium by Darrian White and Nathan Wright. |

|
|
Dawson Lawrence made the best of his second moto victory in 65cc B class action. Lawrences 2-1 topped the 1-2 finishes of Josh Bell. |

|
|
|
After contesting both Pro classes for the past several seasons, Winnipeg Sport & Leisures Mike Harms showed up at Melita with only a CRF450R in the trailer. One bike wasnt a problem however as he put the Harms Racing tuned CRF450R to good use taking the overalls in the 250 Pro and Vet Master classes. |
