Morden Amateur Day Report

at Jun 28, 2007 10:44am

Report and photos by Doug Engstrom

With the CMRC Canadian Championships stopping in Manitoba a large crowd of Manitoba racers as well as a few from several other provinces showed up at Shadow Valley Raceway looking to make their mark.

The rider who made the largest impression in Morden was Kyle McGlynn.   The Alberta native dominated the Intermediate classes taking all four motos he contested.  McGlynn proceeded on to a 7th place finish in the MX2 Pro moto on Sunday.

Jaden Goerzen got his first moto win of the season in the Youth class.  Goerzen’s 1-7 finishes were good for third overall on the day.

Another out of town rider who left his mark on Manitoba was BC’s Spencer Knowles.  The KTM mounted Knowles come out on top of some great battles in the 85cc 12-16 and Supermini classes.

Ami Houde returned from her extended California vacation to enter her first MMA race of the season.  Houde and Bev Bryce-Leger exchanged passes multiple times in the first moto before Houde salted away the win.  Carmen Regier joined Houde and Bryce-Leger on the podium.

Dryden Ontario’s Nick Kiewning used 2-3 finishes in the 50cc 7-8 class to grab second overall behind Cole DeKoninck.

Chris Raffard took his first overall of the season in the 250 Beginner class winning the second moto in the process.

Lindsay Masse took the overall in the GP junior class and grabbed the final spot on the box in 125 Junior.

Jaxton Unrau put in a 1-1 day for the overall in the 50cc 4-6 class.

In 85cc 7-11 racing Kayl Brown battled right to the wire and took second place overall with 3-2 finishes.

Chris Eyolfson won the second moto and his 4-1 day was good enough for the second step on the box in the ATV Pro class.

Lauren Gilmore came out on top of both motos in the Little Ladies class.

Tyler Headworth captured his first overall of the season in the 65cc B class.

While Hayden McKinny grabbed second overall in the 65cc class.

See you at the races…
