MMA: Grunthal Centennial Raceway Race Report

at Jul 11, 2007 4:37pm

Report and photos by Doug Engstrom

Perfection? Awesome? A slice of moto heaven?  Finding the right words to describe the perfectly prepped Grunthal Centennial Raceway can be difficult, but one thing is certain and that is GCR’s dates on the schedule are as anxiously anticipated by MMA racers as Lorie Peters baked treats are by the MMA trailer staff.

Hey can you loan a brother a four stroke?  The conversation in the Brincheski household likely sounded something like the aforementioned question as Stuart Brincheski has parked his RM125 in favour of his injured brother Patrick’s RM-Z250.  The four stroke obviously agrees with the younger Brincheski as he captured the 125 Junior Main event aboard it at GCR.  Brincheski also took a podium with a Third place finish in the Supermini class.

Gregscustom.com rider Nick Dunn posted a 2-1 day in 125 Pro to top the 1-2 finishes of the Westside Honda of Adam Pfeiffer.  Dunn currently trails Pfeiffer by eight points with one round remaining in the Spring Provincial Championship.

For Pfeiffer 1-2 was good enough for the overall in the 250 Pro class, where he trails Dunn by an equal eight points.

Former Ladies champ Charity Schmidt returned to racing at GCR with a Second overall showing in the Ladies class.

With a hard charging, go for broke style Dylan Boulanger always keeps the fans attention.  Boulanger took the second step on the box in the 85cc 12-16 Main.

Casey Vanderhart grabbed a victory in the first moto of the 250 Junior class on his way to Second overall.

Andrew Loewen was able to insert himself into the middle of the weekly 250 Intermediate battle between Colin Cyr and Devon Ward.  Loewen’s 1-4 day was good enough for Second overall behind Cyr’s 2-1 and ahead of Ward’s 3-2 finishes.

Brody Flett took Second overall in the 50cc 4-6 class.

Kenora Ontario’s Braydon Love posted 4-1 finishes for Second overall in the 65cc PeeWee class.

In the Vet Junior class Troy Dumka put in a 2-4 ride to finish Third overall.

Dyllan Lischynski pounded out a pair of victories in the Youth B and GP Junior Main events.

Lane Louttit came out on top of a tight battle for the final two podium positions in the 85cc 7-11 class behind class winner Rio Stoesz.

Johnnie Unrau made one of his rare appearances on the MMA scene.  Unrau went home with Second place hardware for the 25+ class.

After running up front for a short part of the 125 Beginner Main, Tyler Bergen settled in for a Second place finish.

Jason Sierens came out on top of the 125 Intermediate class at GCR.  Troy Revet and Colin Cyr rounded out the podium.

Lawrence Hamm showed up to contest the 40+ class and posted a pair of Second place finishes to take Second overall.

Nathan Wright seems to get faster each week in the 50cc 7-8 class.  Wright took Fourth overall at GCR.

Stefani Blaquiere got her first ever podium finish with a Third overall in the Little Ladies class.

Brett Foster came out on top in a huge battle in the 65cc B class.  Foster’s 2-1 finishes topped the 1-2 rides of Josh Bell.

See you at the races...
