Grunthal Fall Photo Report

at Sep 5, 2007 1:35pm

Report and photos by Doug 'Chili' Engstrom

After a three week hiatus the chase for the Manitoba Motocross Associations Fall Provincial Championships resumed at Grunthal Centennial Raceway under ideal conditions.  576 Hopefuls took a spot behind a starting gate at GCR looking to make their mark.

1-2-3-4, no I’m not about to break into song, those are the moto finishes posted by Ryan Linto at GCR.  The 1-2 earned him the overall in the 65cc class, while the 3-4 was good for the third step on the box in the 85cc 7-11 class.

2-1 rides in both the Vet Master and 40+ classes earned Kim Houde another pair of overall victories this week.

A victory in the second 250 Beginner moto helped Calvin Brown to his first 250 Beginner overall of the season.  Joining brown on the podium were Damien Beaudoin and Gary Phillips.

For Jordan Siemens two was the number of the day at GCR.  Siemens went 2-2 for the two spot on the podium.  Ryan Kokorudz with the overall and Brody Flett were the other podium finishers.

Westside Honda’s Adam Pfeiffer had another strong day at GCR in his pursuit of the number one plate in Manitoba.  Pfeiffer took both motos in the 125 Pro class and in the process took over the points lead from gregscustom.com rider Nick Dunn.  Pfeiffer also traded moto wins with Dunn in the 250 Pro class on his way to the overall.

Jessica Bell appeared much more aggressive on the jumps at GCR and was rewarded with a Second place overall finish.  Rachel Regier stood on top of the box, while Brittany Mann took the final podium position.

The 250 Intermediate class is likely to be the tightest battle for a Provincial title this fall.  Devon Ward with a 2-1 ride took the overall and in the process wrestled the points lead away from second place rider Colin Cyr by a single point.

65cc B class racing saw Zack Simpson finish between overall winner Brendan Kokorudz and third place finisher Cole Sawatzky.

Paul Neufeld uses this holeshot to propel himself to victory in the 125 Beginner Main.  Dustin Konzelman and Michael Giesbrecht chased Neufeld to the podium.

D.J. Burmey scored a couple of runaway victories in the 50cc 7-8 class.  Nick Kiewning and Nathan Wright also made podium appearances.

Ryan Millar raced in Manitoba for the first time since late June and as usual his racing had plenty of folks talking.  Millar claimed both 125 Intermediate motos but it was his performance in the Youth class that got tongues wagging.  In the first Youth moto Millar put on a late moto charge to grab second spot from Jamie Kennedy.  In moto two Millar got out front early on his 250F and was chased the entire moto by current #1 Pro plate holder Nick Dunn aboard his gregscustm.com RM-Z450.  Dunn finally got Millar in the sand whoops one hundred yards from the checkered flag.

Bev Bryce-Leger grabbed the overall in the Ladies class with a come from behind victory in moto two over Ami Houde.

Brenden Mitchell put in a couple of strong motos on his way to second overall in the Youth B Class.

Vet Junior class racing saw Greg Wiebe grab the overall with a 3-1 day, topping the 1-3 rides of Randall Klassen.

Ken Klassen used a second moto victory in the 40+ B class to lock up the overall for the day.

See you at the races...
